Avatar in the Park

Our favorite spot for date night: Miller Theatre at Hermann Park featuring the movie Avatar. We had a picnic with our good friends Erin and Jason and their little one.

The movie: still not one of our favorites.  Don’t know what all the hype is about, which reminds me…don’t waste your time with Ironman II either.

Beauty and the Beast

Tonight, we went to see Beauty in the Beast at Miller Outdoor Theatre. We’re excited for this place to finally be up and running. Our friends who planned on coming with us had to bail because they weren’t feeling well; nevertheless, we still decided to show up a little early and have a picnic.

We played cards while eating sushi before the show. We ended up leaving at intermission because this performance wasn’t too engaging. It was put on by HITS; unfortunately, it felt like a high school quality performance. It too was plagued with mic problems. We just haven’t be lucky lately with the musicals. Hopefully, the Chinese acrobatics show at the end of the month will be better.

Proximity to the Park

We love living near Hermann Park. Not only does it provide us with great, Sunday strolls, it also contains Miller Outdoor Theatre (MOT). It’s been fantastic to have a FREE and culturally enriching place to go every weekend. Last weekend, we went to Niko Niko’s in Montrose and stopped by MOT for a Chinese show. This weekend, the U Theatre of Taiwan performed Sound of Ocean. It was great to be able to walk to the show from our apartment. It’s even better that the weather is finally cooling off a bit. It was cool enough that we brought a blanket and grabbed some hot chocolate from the clubhouse. Next week, we’re eagerly anticipating the African Footprint, a musical from South Africa.
