I was blog hopping and stumbled upon a couple of fun sewing projects that I could do with some of my scraps. I’ve never made a crayon roll before, so I tried it, and it was fun. So I made five. Most crayon rolls are tied up with a ribbon, but I figure that most kids don’t know how to tie things so I added a button with an elastic loop instead. (if anyone knows how to sew on an elastic cord without breaking the elastic, I would love a tip.) The tutorial can be found at Chocolate on my Cranium.
These are mini crayon rolls which hold the bare necessities
These rolls hold up to 16 crayons
Hopefully my nieces will enjoy these. I made a quick little pair of kimono baby shoes so their little brother wouldn’t feel left out.
The kimono shoe pattern is found at homespun-threads. I discovered a new love recently…linen and corduroy fabric! Oh the endless possibilities!

Diane those are awesome! You are so crafty. I want to have another baby just so I can beg you to make me a pair of those cute kimono shoes. I love the crayon roll. McKay could defintely use one of those for his church bag. Wink Wink!
How did you learn to sew so well?!
Wow! Those shoes are SO precious.
I know a nephew that would love a crayon roll as well. :)
i’m keeping my eye out for camo fabric…
Thanks for the link love. ☺ I’m in love with the kimono shoes. With a baby due in 15 days I know I’ll be making a few of these!
You are so talented. I went to the fabric store to get stuff to make the crayon rolls and I just stood there like a deer in head lights. Too many fabrics, I didn’t know where to begin. You’ll have to come with me next time!
Oh, those crayon roles are so great! I wish I had some sewing aptitude. Never really got that gene – although I did make an apron in home ec once!
